Spirit Guides

Souls or spirits that have lived many lifetimes and have gained much wisdom, who watch, teach, heal and generally help you on your physical journey into spiritual awareness, are your Spirit Guides.
Even though you may not be consciously aware of the fact, you picked your Spirit Guides to help you before you were born and they agreed to be your helpers. You and your guide planned your life on earth before you incarnated. You live the life and your Spirit Guide helps you along the way. Thus, everyone has a Spirit Guide because everyone planned his or her life prior to being born.
So, are these Spirit Guides angels? Well, in a sense, yes, because they watch out for you, but angels have never led a physical life and were created as divine beings to serve as messengers from the Divine. Spirit Guides are very experienced with physical life, have paid their karmic debts, and have advanced beyond a need to reincarnate. They understand the struggles of human life, but are in a higher frequency.
It is said that the Spirit Guide is not on the Earthly plane, but rather is communicating from “The Other Side.”
Communication with Spirit Guides is generally telepathic, clairaudient or clairvoyant. Or it may be observed during meditation, dream time or just learning how to focus, look and listen to messages received.
Some people call this method of connection, channeling, but it is absolutely not necessary to surrender control of consciousness to allow our guides to speak to us through a psychic channel. Everyone has a Spirit Guide, several to be exact, and you need not display mediumistic abilities to communicate with your own guidance.
Your Spirit Guide(s) will speak to you with a thought that drifts through your mind like a feather in the wind. They will lead you with an inner prompting along the path that you agreed to travel and yes, they will act as a go between in mediumistic activities. The fact is, the more open you are to communicating with your Spirit Guide(s) and the more you practice, the easier it gets.
Spirit Guides can go by many names and often they connect with more than one person at a time, using identities that are comfortable to those with whom they communicate. Each guide generally comes for a specific purpose – creative abilities, healing issues, spiritual development etc, or for a unique situation: for instance, a guide can save you during an accident, by entering your physical body or stopping time.
Guides contact us in very subtle ways. They provoke a thought in our heads much like angels; they visit us in our dreams; and appear in our meditations. Like all concepts in spiritual growth, intent is everything and if you desire to make contact with guidance, then dedication and perseverance will enable you to do so.
Some guides appear as physical beings in meditation and dreams while at other times they appear as a being of light, pure light of different colors. You can ask your guidance to appear in dreams, but better still is to make a conscious attempt to meditate to meet them.
While Spirit Guides will give you some hints as to what may occur if you continue on your current path, there seems to be a prime directive that will not allow them to tell us what to do. In life threatening situations they will attempt to warn us, but they will not give us what they consider as frivolous information – the winning lottery numbers, for instance.
It may be difficult to comprehend and accept that these magical, mystical guides are actually a part of our ordinary lives, but dedication and perseverance in connecting with them will reaffirm your belief in this extraordinary gift from the Creation.

The stronger and more often you do this, the easier it will be for you to talk with your Spirit Guides. Talking with your guides is just like a conversation you would have with a friend. Only it takes place in your mind.
